Restyling with vintage scarves

Every year it becomes more difficult to pick one trend which will get you through the season. With more and more amazing styles coming up, it’s not easy to stay stylish without breaking the bank.

One of the hottest trends for SS12 is prints and D&G’s last collection focused mainly on that. I really liked how they used vintage style scarves and handkerchiefs so the look can be recreated very easily and at a fairly low cost!

The best way to recreate this look is to play around with some of your vintage scarves (if you don’t own any, hit any charity shop or flea market and you can snap them up for as low as €1).

Below is an example of a quick DIY I did with a pair of heels and a Penneys clutch. All you need is a glue gun and a little bit of patience!

If this restyling seems too much and you would rather play it safe, there are three other simple ways to work a vintage scarf into your look: as a headband, as a belt or tied up in a bow at your neck with a white, buttoned-up shirt. All scarf-type of prints work best with gold jewellery so make sure you add some, especially for an evening look.

As not everyone is into DIY but we all want to snap that trend at an affordable price, high street, as always, comes to the rescue. Below are just a few pieces that really rock those prints but come with a much better price tag.
